This curious riddle was devised from the recent statement of a French astronomer who claims to have identified a new star of the first magnitude.
The illustration shows the teacher describing his new discovery to his fellow astronomers. He has drawn the position of fifteen stars of different sizes and is now about to show what his new discovery is in the sky.
See if you can draw the shape of a five-pointed star that is so much larger than any of the others but does not touch any of them!
The following drawing shows where the French stars should locate the new star, which turns out to be of such astronomical dimensions that it overshadows all the other stars.
